Courtney's been sick all day with the flu.  She stayed home from work and it was hard no to fall all the bandwagon today and splurge a little on easy foods.

I should note that there is a mocha missing somewhere between the 2nd & 3rd pictures.  I thought about splicing an old picture in, but decided just to be honest!  ;-)

Oh, and Courtney is not too sick to make me mention that I had 5 of Milligan's cheesy crackers while I was feeding her.  She said not reporting it would be 'cheating'!

No working out today, although I had a SUPER productive work day (not that you care...  well, unless you like MvD stuff).

Courtney and I went grocery shopping today and it was a totally different experience with all this motivation!

Today was another average day.  Ate mostly different left overs.  Courtney made some spinach and cheese wheat quesadillas for lunch.

Walked 20 minutes to grocery store and 20 minutes back with a full backpack and two full reusable grocery tote bags.  Thought I was going to collapse on way home!

Later tonight, I ran 1 mile (~11 min) and walked .5 mile (~8 min).  Not setting any records, but a step in the right direction!

We didn't go to the grocery store yet!  Tomorrow...  so trying to clean out the cabinets.

It should be noted that I ate exactly 1/4 of the oatmeal.  For some reason, I just wasn't hungry until lunch time really today.  Had the last of the pasta tonight (I know less carbs) and then made Vegetable Curry for dinner (2 plates).

Tomorrow I'll be buying more leafy vegetables to make a couple salads and a bunch of fruit to have for breakfast more often.  We'll see how it goes!

I had plans to attend BJJ practice today, but voluntarily skipped to extend my awesome meeting with Dragos Roua here in Auckland.  Note to self:  Don't schedule meeting with cool people an hour before workouts.  Cool people meetings tend to take longer than an hour.  :-)

Feeling good, -Baker.

First, thanks for all the support today.  I really, really appreciate it!

Courtney and I will be heading to the grocery store tomorrow and are planning on getting things to diverse the diet a bit :-).  Today, however, ate almost the same thing for very meal!  Yikes.

Courtney made the awesome lentil soup again w/ celery, carrots, potatoes, splitpeas, corn, etc...  I had two bowls for lunch and one for dinner!

Only one mocha today and it was only 2 scoops of the mix (fairly watered down).  I'm thinking I could almost wean myself completely off in the next few days.  We'll see.

Ran a mile today on the treadmill.  Didn't really push it too hard (around 12 minutes).  Haven't run I don't think a single time since we left, so it'll take some time to get back into things.

I'm more motivated than ever thanks to your comments, e-mails, and messages!

October 8th 2009

Today, I had another decent day!

I ate the left overs of the awesome soup from yesterday primarily (again might need more variety), but I'm not disappointed.

I went to BJJ training again today.  25 minute walk there, 30 minute of hard cardio, 60 minutes of drilling positions, 20 minute walk home.  Not too shabby for me!

Most importantly, today my internet went out.  I was pissed and had to collect my things and walk to the library to finish some freelance work.  On the way, there is this amazing fresh-baked cookie store right on the sidewalk of Queen street downtown.  I was already pissed and somehow ended up in line.

Before ordering I remembered that I didn't have my camera to take a picture of the cookie.  I then realized I didn't even really want to post the picture if I had my camera.  After a 10 second debate, I left the line and finished the walk to the library.  On ANY other day, I would have bought that cookie... maybe two.

It's working..........  :-)

October 7th 2009

Another decent day for me.  I know the picture below might have you thinking...  wait... that was decent?  But in reality I've been working with a LOT less portion sizes than normal.

I still had 2 mochas (although I've been using about 50% of the mix I normally do).  It's hard for me to remain focus and get any writing or blogging done without them!  Not a good thing to admit, but it's true right now.

Courtney made this awesome lentil soup last night (I had two bowls).  We've got plenty of leftovers, so you'll see more of it for sure.  It's packed with vegetables also and is very filling.  I'm convinced that's the sort of stuff I need to eat consistently.

No set working out today, although I did walk 25 minutes to the grocery store.  Might not seem like a lot, but I had to walk the entire way back with my arms full of groceries.  By the time I got back I was sweating, my shoulders were killing me, and my forearms were completely numb.  I'm not sure you call that a workout, but sadly I was sore!  :-)

October 6th 2009

Today, I had 1.5 hours of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.  The first half-hour is purely cardio work and the last hour is more drilling.  Even the drilling though does a great job of working different muscles, burning a little bit of fat, and helping to improve my breathing.

Now that we are in the city, I'm going to try to go Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's to training.  This would drastically help my overall fitness and is much easier for me than tedious cardio.

As you can see today lacked variety.  Oatmeal for breakfast, and 1.5 plates of a pasta bake for late lunch, with another plate of leftovers after the workout for dinner.  Also, I slipped into two mochas (justified the second to knockout some blogging tonight).  o.O

Overall, though, not displeased with today.  I did workout and *was* very conscious about what I ate.  On the right path.

October 5th 2009

Today's the first official day of this challenge!

I did a trial run last week and captured roughly 80% of what I ate.  I've worked out some kinks in my personal system for taking the photos and we should be good to go now.

I walked a little through the city today, but no real exercise.  I feel I did o.k. food wise.  Courtney and I celebrated finally getting internet with ordering a medium pizza, as you can see.  I only had 1 cup of mocha mix, though, which is done from 3-4 a day last month.
